The Freeport CT achieves very high efficiency by circulating the hot flue gases through the heat exchanger three times. Most other residential boilers are designed for only a single or double pass.

The Freeport CT is designed to maximize heat transfer from flue gases to the boiler water, and to minimize the amount of cast iron and water that must be heated. Interior heat-transfer surfaces are smooth to provide clean combustion and to reduce the build-up of soot deposits.
